Today, I’m pulling back the curtain on how I create a Soul Stroll. I’m taking you behind the scenes of what has become one of the most beloved parts of my business—and truthfully, one of my favorite creative practices. I’ve been noticing that when I share more about the how behind my business—the creative process, the decision-making, the things that work—you seem intrigued. If you’ve ever wondered how do you actually come up with this stuff? … keep reading. |
If you’re not familiar, Morning Pages come from Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way. They are three longhand pages of whatever is on your mind— no censoring, no editing, just a brain dump first thing in the morning.
(I’ve been doing them on and off since I was 18 years old and they still work.)
Sometimes my pages are full of brilliant ideas. Other times, they are full of nonsense, complaints, or fears.
But here’s the thing—when you do this consistently, you start to see patterns. Themes.
Stories you tell yourself over and over again.
While I don’t go back and read through them, I do pay attention to what’s nagging me.
What’s coming up again and again?
What am I afraid of?
What’s weighing me down?
What’s the story I’m telling myself on repeat?
This part isn’t always fun (hello, self-doubt), but it’s necessary. Because this is where the gold lives.
Once I spot those recurring themes or limiting beliefs, I start to ask:
What would it sound like if I believed something different?
What’s a more supportive, empowering thought I could practice?
This is where the mantras are born.
But here’s what I’ve learned after years of doing this work:
It’s not enough to think the mantras.
You have to feel them.
Because your body already believes what it believes. And if you’re stuck in an old story, you might need to move that energy before you can truly believe something new.
That’s why I pair these mantras with inspiring music and invite you to move your body—whether you’re walking, dancing, or swaying side to side in your kitchen.
Movement helps to loosen stuck energy, shift your mood, and create space for something new to take root.
I’m so grateful for the messages I receive about how Soul Strolls impact your life. Here are just a few:
“It’s like having my own personal coach in my ear, cheering me on.” -Jan F.
“I didn’t even know I needed to hear those words until I did.” -Kara N.
“It’s the only thing that gets me moving on the days I feel stuck.” -Stacey P.
Inside The Movement, there are now over 30 Soul Strolls, each with different themes to help the members turn around whatever story they are telling themselves. Isn’t it fun to see how I create a Soul Stroll?
From self doubt to fear about the future, there is something for every season and every mood.
Here’s a few things to think about:
Love,
Erin
