Unexpected Growth In Taking A Step Back

Imagine finding growth in the most unexpected places—like the restless nights of a four-month-old. Let me share a story that might change the way you see your wellness journey.

We were down in Florida for spring break and after the bright sunshine and warm days, baby boy was waking at night every three hours, just like when he was a newborn.

You might think, “Ah, the dreaded 4 month sleep regression!”

But, I’ve never liked that term.

“Regression” sounds like we’re slipping backward, right? Like we’ve lost some progress.

But, his nights weren’t disrupted because he forgot how to sleep. His increased babbling, movements, and laughter during the day were testaments to his expansion, not his retreat.

This wasn’t a step back; his little world was expanding, not regressing.

Particularly when it comes to our wellness goals, what we perceive as regression or a setback can, in reality, be a sign of growth, development, and forward momentum.

Does this sound familiar?

You’ve been on your wellness journey, hitting it out of the park, feeling good.

Then, suddenly, life throws a curveball. Maybe it’s work, maybe it’s family, or maybe you just can’t find the energy anymore.

Your yoga mat collects dust, and the salad greens in your fridge see a tragic end.

It feels like you’re sliding backward.

But what if I told you that’s not the case?

What if during this time “away” there is something new blooming inside of you? What if you are gearing up for your next big leap forward?

Real Talk

I want to get real with you for a second. Changing the way we talk to ourselves about our progress can change the game. Instead of saying “I’m regressing,” what if we say, “I’m prepping for my next big win”?

Say this mantra with me:

I am changing for the better
There is a force behind me
My life is improving
I am ready

If you’ve been feeling like you’re not making progress, like you’re going backward, or just standing in place with a lot of stopping and starting, I’m here to tell you: you’re on the brink of something wonderful.

Your body and mind are gearing up for the next challenge, and that’s exciting!

I want you to burn this mantra into your brain, so go ahead and download this and make it your phone wallpaper.

It will help to remind you that you are not moving backward, only forward and your life is only getting better!

If you’re looking to become more consistent with your wellness goals such as exercise and eating well, I have some excited new coming your way. Stay tuned!

With love,
Erin
