This is how I work

I spent the first part of last week in prep mode for a big talk I was giving last Thursday night to 150 people.

I was nervous. Super excited, but definitely nervous.

So, I went about my normal process for working through the hard stuff:

I took a loooong shower. I stood there for close to an hour, letting the water wash over me and thinking about how I wanted to open the talk, what the outline would be made up of, and how I wanted it to flow.

Post-shower, I put on my sneakers and went for a long walk to work through all those shower thoughts.

A few hours later, I was back at my desk, taking notes and fleshing it out on the screen.

The whole time, I was working hard — and doing my best work.

It didn’t look like work. It looked like a luxurious shower and an indulgent walk.

And yet, it’s exactly what I needed to get it done.

(The talk went amazingly, in case you were wondering!)

Maybe your work doesn’t look like work, either. Maybe what you need to sort through the hard stuff isn’t traditional. Maybe taking action for you actually means sitting still.

That is more than okay.

As you do your work — whatever it looks like — remember this:

I am taking action
I have love in my soul
No worries, no regrets
I am ready to go!

Then go forth and do your best work, knowing that your best gets better every day.

With love,
Erin

P.S. This will come as no surprise to you: The best way to practice any mantra is to put it into motion. If this one’s resonating with you today, it might just be the day to start a free, week-long trial of The Movement. Inside, you’ll find The Magic of Taking Action Soul Stroll, The Inspired Action 45-min workout, and The Inspired Action 5-minute workout. Do just one of those and you’ll be taking action in no time, whatever that looks like for you.
