Stop Negative Thinking

I’m in the final stretch of this pregnancy. Any day now, really.

I need to be honest with you about something.

The last two months have been rough! I wish I had something more positive to say, but man oh mighty, it’s been hard with a capital H. Physical discomfort and lack of sleep are not my favorite things.

The last few days, I’ve been paying close attention to how my negative thinking is causing even more suffering than the discomfort itself.

What I mean is that there’s not much one can do about the discomfort of pregnancy. (Aside from chiropractor, acupuncture, etc). The best relief is having the baby.

Sometimes we just have to accept the situation we are in, despite it being unfavorable. Whether it’s grief, the loss of a job, an illness or an injury, what we’re going through may be unchangeable.

However, the story we tell ourselves about the situation can make us feel even worse.

If you’re having a hard time with something right now, I invite you to reflect to see if it’s the “thing” that’s bothering you most or your thoughts about the “thing.”

Sounds tricky, but the good news is that there are steps we can take to prevent ourselves from falling deeper into despair during difficult times.

In this video, I share what some of my own mental shortcomings have been, but more importantly, I share ways we can help ourselves feel better.

You will learn:

-A philosophy known as the double arrow that causes us further suffering.
-3 things you can do today to help alleviate suffering and negative self-talk.
-A short physical exercise you can do (sitting in your chair!) to help you create a new feeling.

I hope you enjoy the video!

Now, I’m looking forward to hearing from you. You can leave a comment under the video and tell me which one of the techniques I shared you’re going to try!

With love,
Erin
